Our Weekly Nordic Walk @ The Coddenham Centre

by | Aug 16, 2020 | Community, Notices

Hello Nordic Walkers,

What a scorcher we had for last Monday’s walk to Hemingstone Church!

With temperatures approaching 30 degrees it made for pretty uncomfortable walking, but we took an easy pace, stopping regularly for water and enjoyed some lovely views of the sun baked countryside surrounding Coddenham.
Tomorrow Monday 17th we’re venturing further afield!

Karen Riley has kindly plotted a route for us near her home in Ashfield and has sent the following parking and walking instructions so we will be starting from there at 10am NOT The Coddenham Centre.

Start at the village hall in Ashfield(situated halfway through village on the right just past the church). There is a red telephone kiosk at the entrance to the car park.

We turn right onto a footpath just past the hall and across the fields towards Thorpe Hall. There we turn right alongside a nuttery belt towards Crow’s Hall. At the hall we walk a stretch of quiet road lined with  oak trees towards Crow’Hall Cottages. At the cottages we again turn right onto a wooded bridle way back in the direction of Ashfield. At the end of the bridleway, depending on the weather, we can turn left onto a further stretch of bridleway which leads to Waddlegoose Lane. This is a grassy track heading back to Earl Soham. We turn off it to Grove Lane farm past the goats and down Grove Lane back to the village hall. Total distance just over 4.5 miles.

Although this is a free and voluntary group we do need to restrict numbers at the moment to abide by government COVID-19 guidelines, so please book your place by contacting Gail at enquiries@thecoddenhamcentre.co.uk and abide by all social distancing advice.

Trained walkers only please, Nordic walking poles available for hire.

Looks like rain jackets essential!
